1 The article on Michie and Oughton has several perspectives regarding corporate governance regulation for professional soccer clubs in the UK. In relation to their arguments, the following are my perspectives: first, good corporate governance is supposed to be informed, meaning every decision that has to be passed depends significantly on the passable endowment of facts from the board of directors to shareholders. Another viewpoint is that if the owners or directors of a particular club feel that they are about to lose their position, they must incorporate market shares because this strategy has higher chances of improving corporate governance. Also, in relation to the information provided by Michie and Oughton about the running of the club, another perspective I have is that corporate governance and performance towards a particular club can be improved through shareholder activism. Finally, the regulations regarding corporate governance must incorporate the ideas and concerns of all stakeholders to enhance success.
2 My perspective on the self-regulation guidelines from the UK's Combined Code is that in addition to focusing on good governance, the interests of stakeholders and other stakeholders should be protected.
