Essay Instructions:

This week’s Daily Writing essay focuses on a slice of Dr. Charles Krauthammer’s life and the admiration expressed about him on the occasion of his passing.
CAUTION: This is not a biography assignment.
While attending Harvard Medical School, 22-year-old Charles Krauthammer suffered a permanent, paralyzing injury during a swimming pool incident. Paralyzed from the waist down, he continued his studies while hospitalized, eventually graduating from Harvard. For the rest of his life, he lived as a quadriplegic.
Dr. Krauthammer wrote for the Washington Post, Time Magazine, The New Republic, and he appeared regularly on Fox News as a political commentator. In 1987, Dr. Krauthammer was awarded the coveted Pulitzer Prize, which honors the highest level of excellence in journalism and the arts.
In 2018, prior to his death from stomach cancer, Krauthammer wrote, "I leave this life with no regrets. It was a wonderful life — full and complete with the great loves and great endeavors that make it worth living. I am sad to leave, but I leave with the knowledge that I lived the life that I intended."

Compose a persuasive essay (400-word minimum, 500-word maximum) that responds to the Thomas article. Your underlined thesis in the first paragraph must offer an opinion about the following argument in the Thomas essay that “tributes to those we love are best made when the object of our affection is still with us, rather than at their funerals.”
The essay should be written from your own first-person point of view
Remember, however, that the thesis must be written from an omniscient point of view.

No other sources shall be used.
As a matter of clarity, use two direct quotations in the essay: A Thomas and a Bible quotation. Each quotation must be at least two complete lines of text, and each quotation must be used in a separate paragraph and must pertain to the content of that paragraph.
Limit the quotations to a total of not more than eight lines of text, accumulatively.
An in-text citation is required for both quotations.

More often than not, human beings are less appreciative of what life has to offer until it is there no more. They are inscribed to the daily bustles of life failing to recognize the blessings present. In the simplest terms, people realize the importance of electricity when there is a blackout. However, in ordinary circumstances, switching lights on and off is a mere norm. While this deep gratitude for life evades, Charles Krauthammer is among the few that could be regarded as having lived their utmost potential.
In my opinion, it is the life-threatening experience, often referred to as death-ground experience that compelled him to live life to his utmost potential. When people encounter life-threatening situations, they realize that death could come at any moment and thus, endears them to live a more meaningful life. This story is of Charles Krauthammer who exceeded expectations despite being paralyzed and justified the saying “tributes to those we love are best made when the object of our affection is still with us, rather than at their funerals.”
At a very tender age of 22 years, Krauthammer was unfortunate to suffer a permanent and paralyzing injury while in a swimming session. Regardless, he continued with his studies and graduated despite being a quadriplegic. However, one of the most inspiring acts is that he never complained nor did have any pity on himself.
