Lessons Learned From My Project
In the development of my entire project, I have gained a deeper meaning of deconstruction criticism and how it is used in literature. In deconstruction, language is viewed to be something that is unstable and therefore the way that a language can be used in a book can conjure up different mental images for different people. It, therefore, emphasizes more on how the language has been presented within a given text.
The deconstruction theory of criticism in my view appears to resemble the formalist criticism theory. However, the difference comes in where we see that the primary goal of formalist criticism, theory is to locate unity within a text by presenting to the reader how the diverse elements of a text concur in showing the meaning. Deconstruction on the other side shows how the text can be broken down into mutually irreconcilable positions to portray a meaning. It also helps to learn how language has been used to achieve power and also help us to understand how some interpretations of a literary work come to be regarded as truth.
I have also been exposed to various sources of information about English Literature. The sources will be of significance as I will be using them when I am carrying out research on any topic thus saving time.
