The Ancient Greece boast of being the mother of one of the most respected and glorious events of our century that is the Olympics. Although their calendar is considered controversial and complex, the official date given is an estimate of 776 BC. Ancient Greece has great influence on many aspects of social live in the past and present. Besides many other events in Greece, games were documented in pottery painting and art of sculpture to make them have a visual explanation and include incarnate significant detailed references of their functionality. Pottery painting is observed as a visual encyclopedia of everyday life of the society in the Ancient Greece. Greek vase painting was similarly, to what we today refer to as editorial illustration that expresses many aspects the society. The information and the functionalism of Greek pottery can be compared to photographic images in today’s era for example those in newspapers or movie covers.
The boxing is popular in Greek pottery. Boxing was already known in the Minoan period and Apollo is credited for inventing the athletic discipline.
