The first book “The Feminine Mystique” authored by Betty Friedman is mostly talking about the beginning of second-wave feminism happening in the United States (Friedan). Friedman gets to point out that the average age of women to get married was dropping and the portion of those women who were attending college was also getting lower while the birthrate was increasing for majority of women in the course of the 1950s (Friedan). The book also points out that the widespread trend of women who are unhappy is also persistent even though the culture of America went on to insist that the fulfillment for many women would get found in housewifery and marriage. My thought or reflection on this text is that even today, the issue of women getting married or attending college is actually a mystery to many. It remains an unsolvable matter.This is similar to what is discussed in “A week like any other” that was authored by Natalia Baranskaia.
