Christina M. LaVecchia article titled ‘Of Peerenting, Trophy Wives, and Effeminate Men: Modern Family's Surprisingly Conservative Remediation of the Family Sitcom Genre’ is not the article I set out to analyze. Nonetheless, the article quite intrigued me because it explains how a certain show dramatically deviated from numerous previous family shows. To that end, I decided to carry out the analysis because it would provide the readers a thorough understanding of how TV entertainment was significantly revolutionized by a single family show. The show discussed is the Modern Family show. The show is quite effective in delivering an interesting kind of a family program.
The article is quite effective because it portrays some strengths. For instance, the author uses examples to support her claims and arguments. Use of examples is considerably efficient in compelling and persuading the audience. To that end, the author can convince the readers with ease. A second strength of the article is that ideas have been articulately presented and therefore most readers can understand the concepts the author is putting across. Nonetheless, the article does not go without its faults. For instance, it falls short of challenging our expectations for how families work.
