Every person has some good and bad eating habits. Breaking bad eating habits means one has to change something in their lives. It is always difficult to change anything, and many people are aware they ought to be eating better, but they do not know where to start. For one to permanently improve their eating habits, they must undertake a thoughtful approach that comprises reflecting, replacing and reinforcing. Reflection is the first step whereby an individual specifies both the bad and good eating habits and the common triggers for unhealthy eating. This is then followed by replacing the unhealthy habits with the healthy ones. This includes, for instance, increasing fruit and vegetable diet in place of red meat, switching to healthier drinks, and moderating alcohol intake, among others. Lastly, is reinforcing the new healthier habits by making them a lifestyle (Carpenter and Finley 108).
