The Routine Activities Theory can be applied effectively in learning terrorist activities. The strategy links terrorist activities as the result of existence of a crime triangle involving an offender (or terrorist), location, and a victim. The theory also links the development of terrorist activities to existing skills necessary to transform opportunities into crime (Michael 2003). Terrorist activities – according to the routine activities theory - are crimes committed by individuals with considerable skills to exploit routine activities of a community and transform that opportunity into crime.
Domestic terrorism is becoming rampant day by day, especially in most parts of the United States. It usually involves violent acts by residents, especially permanent residents, of a country against their own people and property. Such acts are normally committed within that country and their main purpose is to instill fear in the general public for political, economic, social or ideological personal gains.
