The Juarez Cartel Investigations Through the Arrest of Fuentes
“Mexico Sentences Former Juarez Cartel Leader to 28 Years in Prison” by Julian Resendiz shows how Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, nicknamed “Viceroy,” was indicted for allegedly ordering the murder of the Juarez Cartel rivals. Although investigations are ongoing, Fuentes is charged with running a criminal enterprise, money laundering, firearms offenses, and other drug-related crimes (Resendiz). He is believed to be the Juarez Cartel leader, a violent organization dealing with drug trafficking. In October 2014, Fuentes was apprehended by Mexican authorities and incarcerated.
