Should America be the world’s policeman?
Article #2 “The U.S. Military Presence Around the World Is Essential for Security” by Sheldon Richman and Article #4, “The U.S. Military Presence Around the World Needs to End” by Chalmers Johnson best caught my attention on the issues that they discussed. These articles aim at expressing the real feelings of the Americans concerning the status of the country. They talk about the importance of controlling military actions of the United States to save its budgets in the military as well as create the right name for the country. The author argues that the militarized stand of the United States creates more enemies for its citizens than creating peace.
Article #3, “The U.S. Military Presence Around the World Is Essential for Security” by Bradley Thayer and Christopher Layne does not give clear ideas of security about the security of the American citizens that are fostered by its militaristic actions. The argument raised in Article #5, “The Majority of Americans Want the United States to Be More Active in World Affairs” by Gregory Holyk and Dina Smeltz does not elaborate on the need for Americans to be involved in international affairs and it is not credibly supported data.
The cold war error was a defining factor for the beginning of the policeman ship of the United States to keep the Soviet Union from preying on weak states.
