Understanding the thematic relationship between a text and history is essential for any reader. It allows him to appreciate the author's ideas in relation to the societal circumstances that influenced his mindset and vice versa. Accordingly, one essential text that requires a deeper appreciation of historical facts is Marriane Hirsch and Leo Spitzer's book entitled Ghosts of Home – The Afterlife of Czernowitz in Jewish Memory. Upon reading this book, I realized that the authors' conception of their experiences in Czernowitz's town is heavily reflected upon their manner of writing and its contents.
