The Montgomery bus boycott is among the most notable occurrences in the history of the US considering the impacts that it had in changing the country’s social and political trajectory. That 381-day boycott in Montgomery, Alabama, was a significant protest against racial segregation on public transportation. It was initiated after the arrest of Rosa Parks on December 1, 1955, who had refused to give up her seat for a white man in a bus. The boycott brought together the Black community and catapulted a young Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. into the national spotlight. The occurrence of the boycott marked a crucial moment in the American Civil Rights Movement.
