Mao Zedong During The Great Leap Forward
For our final writing assignment of 9th Grade Global Studies, you will asked to complete a (rather smallish) document based question related to what we’ve learned about Mao Zedong and China. A document based question is where you are provided sources and are asked to cite them to produce a thesis. The thesis answers a research question that also has been given to you.
To make this assignment as beneficial as possible to you as students, here are a few items we’ll focus on:
-Making strong thesis statements that clearly address an argument
-Citing material using direct quotations
-Organizing effective arguments
Once you’ve read over the materials, you will be tasked with writing a five-paragraph essay. So, in effect, this has all the features of a research paper, but saves you from having to write many pages. You can focus on the above items and your writing skills without fear of coming up with pages of material. Again, the focus is on improving as writers and critical thinkers.
