From the Hadith excerpt, Islam is clearly described as an ethical religion, which is a religion that has a clear-cut code of moral behavior. From the first paragraph, it is well outlined that Islam as a religion rests on five pillars of the Islam faith. It is clear that the five pillars on which Muslim faith lies are: acknowledging that there is no other god other than Allah, performing prayers, paying the Zakat, making the pilgrimage to [Mecca], and fasting in Ramadan (Hadith 2, 3). The acts of paying the Zakat, performing the prayers, acknowledging the non-existence of any other god apart from Allah, making the pilgrimage to Mecca, and fasting during the Holy month of Ramadan are themselves acts of ethical behavior according to Muslim standards of morality. One is supposed to act in ways that are consistent with what Islam religion considers ethical and moral conduct.
