The Constitution of the United States of America was a document that was written more than 20 years ago. The Constitution has been a base for building a prosperous nation. The Constitution is the fundamental instrument of the American government and the supreme law of the country. The Constitution has enabled the growth of various governmental institutions and has facilitated the basis for social progress, political solidity, economic growth, and individual freedom. However, the promulgation of the Constitution was not unplanned but it complicated both political and economic backgrounds. The era after the Revolutionary Period was characterized by the political crisis and economic depression on the basis that the Articles of Confederation came up with an unfastened connection between the states and established a national government with partial powers. Therefore the constitution of the United States was an economic document than a political document because the founding fathers were concerned with economic unity and removing all the obstacles that hindered maker growth and development.
After the revolutionary period, the Articles of Confederation reduced the connection of the states and limited the power of the central government. As a result, the national government was not able to get a central position in the political life of the country. Additionally many states were not able to do things independently (Norton 348). The central government was not able to pay debts and regulate foreign and domestic commerce. Consequently, the government was not able to maintain a steady value of the United States' currency. To make matters worse, the central government was not able to keep a robust military force to safeguard the interests of the country from external violations (Beard). With time the system became insignificant and the best resolution was coming up with a new Constitution...
