Of all the Greeks one of the most vocally critical of the Phillip II was Demosthenes. He openly opposed Phillip II expansionary policies and the fact that he was constantly growing in strength. One of the orations that he gave to the Athenians he criticized Phillip II, saying that he grown in habit of doing whatever he liked, while calmly plundering and stripping Greeks one by one. He also said that Phillip had grown fond of attacking their cities leading them to slavery. Comparing his rule to those of the previous dynasties, Demosthenes did not feel that, Phillip II deserved the kind of unchecked authority that he enjoyed considering he had done so little (Demosthenes And Isocrates Address Philip Of Macedonia).
