This is a time of various groups continuing their fight for equal rights and equal access, and we want to touch on a few of them.
Answer the following questions within your initial posting:
From the YAWP reading, did Gloria Steinem made a reasonable argument for women to have equal rights and that an amendment to the Constitution should be added to ensure that women have equal access?
What counter arguments, concerning the ERA, did Phyllis Schafly present?
From the YAWP reading, furthering her statements about men and women, why does Phyllis Schafly view sexual harassment as an “imagined problem”?
What did the Native American activists who occupied Alcatraz Island hope to accomplish? Did they?
What were gay rights activists fighting for and against during this time period?
Of these various groups who demanded to be recognized, who accomplishments did they make that we still can see today?

Before the No Fault Divorce law in 1969, spouses had to show the faults of the other party, such as adultery, and could easily be overturned by recrimination.
Get birth control if they were unmarried.
Baird vs. Eisenstadt (1972)
Serve on a jury.
1975 Taylor v. Louisiana, 419 U.S. 522 (1975), denies states the right to exclude women from juries.
Get a credit card in their name.
Until the Equal Credit Opportunity Act in 1974, women were not able to apply for credit. In 1975, the first women’s bank was opened.
Keep her job if she was pregnant.
Until the Pregnancy Discrimination Act in 1978, women could be fired from their workplace for being pregnant.
Report cases of sexual harassment in the workplace.
The first time that a court recognized sexual harassment in the workplace was in 1977 and it wasn’t until 1980 that sexual harassment was officially defined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Pay a man’s rate for health insurance, until the Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010.

I strongly second the post in that, I believe from reading the YAWP, Gloria Steinem argued for women's equal rights and added a constitutional amendment to show that women have equal access, first highlighting all their injustice and prejudice to other Black men and women in the minority. Gloria describes employment, working positions, wage discrepancies, welfare questions about private and sex life - questions that are not requested from a person. She highlighted further how women are excused from professional groups and cannot engage in some issues, such as politics, juries and access to male privileges. She wants equal compensation for equal labor for women and, with the notion that women are lower, equal treatment should be halted in society for all.
