This is a Civil Defense short film produced in 1951. It was designed to show school children what to do in the event of an atomic bomb attack. Things to consider:

It also means that in addition to presenting facts, you are explaining what is historically significant about the person, place, event. To figure out historical significance, ask yourself, "Is this fact an example of similar processes going on at the time?" or "What were the immediate consequences of this fact?" or "Are there any parallels to today or long-term consequences?"
20% organization: This means that each paragraph has a purpose to present evidence in support of your original argument. It also means that your essay has a logical flow. Finally, there should not be an overwhelming amount of grammatical errors that distract from being able to read your essay.

What were the global circumstances surrounding the making of this film?
The Duck and Cover film was produced to sensitize the general population and school children on what to do in an atomic bombing. This report examines the global contexts surrounding creating the film, lessons learned, and the red scare environment. The global contexts surrounding this film include arms build-up and technological advancement. Global security and nature of warfare had changed after the United States (U.S.) attacked two Japanese cities – Hiroshima and Nagasaki – with atomic bombs, leading to the deaths of over 180,000 civilians. As a result, the Soviets heightened their nuclear studies, including using spies like Klaus Fuchs to gather atomic secrets from the U.S.'s Manhattan Project. The Soviets had the their first nuclear bomb tested in 1949 – an event that caught the U.S. unaware and triggered Western society and led to a phenomenon termed the arms race – military capacity competition between the Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and the U.S. The U.S. denoted its initial hydrogen bomb in 1952. Barely a year later, the USS tested their hydrogen bomb successfully in 1953, subsequently announcing a "massive retaliation" policy. The U.S. would then respond to aggression acts and threats, including creating the Duck and Cover film as part of the Federal Civil Defense Administration's (FCDA) civilian emergence preparedness program..
