Corporation, Monopoly and Railroads
Laissez-faire is a term derived from the French language. It refers to a business operation whereby there are no rules and regulations from the government. Every decision and functions of a business are at the discretion of the business owner. On the other hand, cooperation is a term used to define a more significant business where different investors put their money in a single company, and an investor with a lot of shares gets to control the industry. Most corporate owners out of their wealthy status were not liked by the general public, who referred to them as robber barons. Some of the corporate owners who made acquired enormous wealth used religion to justify their wealth by claiming it is God who provided them with their riches. As a result, the term Gospel of wealth was born to refer to such utterances. Finally, the term social Darwinism is derived from the 19th century Charles Darwin theory about evolution, which affirms survival for the fittest. Therefore, the wealthy individuals claimed that they managed to get their wealth through social Darwinism, which essentially means that they were stronger, fitter, and better than the poor, who they perceived as weak (Bales 1:12-5:00).
