Crohn’s Disease
Introduction
Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) which is distinguished by the swelling of the digestive tract. It is important to note that Crohn’s disease may affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract, from mouth to anus, but this disease is mainly at the end of the small intestine which marks the beginning of the large intestine. The blockage obstructs the movement of food and stool through the victim’s intestines. These conditions make it hard for the body to absorb vitamins, minerals, and nutrients resulting in the loss of weight (Center for Colorectal Surgery, p.4). The inflammation caused by the Crohn’s disease also results in abscesses which cause abdominal pain. Which techniques may be employed to reduce the level of inflammation?
Crohn’s disease (Wu).
