The College Application Letter

Essay Instructions:

Hi this paper will be for college application.
The question is as follow:
Things to consider: If there’s anything you want us to know about you, but didn’t find a question or place in the application to tell us, now’s your chance. What have you not shared with us that will highlight a skill, talent, challenge or opportunity that you think will help us know you better?
I have pre written a draft and I would like you to make it a well written essay thanks.
For the first 4 years of my life I was taken care of by my aunt. My mom and my dad both have their work and business to care about so little attention was given to me. Because of this I have developed a way of self learning which allows me to know what I want in my life. Once I grew older and my family business was more stable I was “returned” back into my mom’s hand. They believed that I should make my own choice in life and they don’t want to be the determining factor on what I do. Because of that I feel like I received this freedom that many other kids in China couldn’t feel.
When I was 5 years old, me and my parents went to a huge mall to buy clothes. One store caught my eye even though it was not cloth related. It was a robotics class and I saw these kids having fun there. My parents asked me if I wanted to learn this and this started what I like to call my self learning experience. Soon after that I found myself more and more. I learned soccer, martial arts, roller skating, gold, fencing and calligraphy. I also learned many things that I feel like will help me in school. For example table tennis was a sport that I decided to practice for 5 years of my life. At one point I was able to place 2nd place in my whole school and knowing that it’s kind of the national sport in China, this was a goal that I was quite happy to reach. I also convinced myself to learn instruments such as flute and piano because I wanted to perform on stage in my school’s talent show. Even though my parents never tell me to do something, they would always ask me to make a goal for myself before I started something and only after I reached my goal would they allow me to stop. They also told me this quote “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger” from Friedrich Nietzsche. Both of these things build me up to a person to reach for goals even though I know there’s a chance that I will fail. My parents help me build the foundation to living a life that I want.

The College Application Letter

For the first four years of my life, I developed a sense of self-learning that has enabled me to know what I need in life. My parents had a chain business making them have little attention to me as my aunt took care of me. It taught me to be independent and do self-learning in most activities. After growing up and returning to my parents, they believed I was old enough to make my choices and didn’t want to be the determining factor in what I did. I feel to have gotten an opportunity that many kids in China didn’t have and shaped me into whom I am today. I am self-driven and ambitious in my activities since I understand the end goals I ...
