Homophobia refers to the fear or hatred of homosexuals β gay men and lesbians β at times leading to expressions of hostility and acts of violence. There have been several reported cases of organized hate groups brutally attacking homosexuals and using violent language against them. They do this in an attempt to persecute and threaten them. Homophobia influences individual behaviour in the following way. It causes or results to hostile behaviour against gays and lesbians particularly violence and discrimination. Prejudiced perspectives directed towards homosexuals in most cases arise from the view that a homosexual activity is morally wrong (Levine-Rasky 32). Homophobia typically makes some individuals believe that they are superior to homosexuals and thus, they tend to be bias against them, hence influencing individual behaviour.
