Essay Instructions:

Compare/Contrast Essay Description
Details:
 All Papers Should be in MLA format
 Must be 3-4 full pages long
 You MUST use at least two sources for this paper.
 Should be formatted as a Microsoft Word document (you can get Office for free)
 Worth 100 points.
Explanation:
For this assignment, you will compose a 3-4 page essay that compares and contrasts two ideas or items. You have a list of prompts to choose from below to get you started, but you must decide how to structure your comparison and what points to compare. Your goal with all of the research, annotating, and structuring is to come up with a thesis based on your comparison.
 If you are comparing two versions of something (classic movie vs. reboot, book vs. movie, etc), your thesis would make a claim about the effect of the differences and why that is important to the reader/viewer.
You can see that your thesis will have a different focus based on your prompt, but you must remember that this essay will not be complete without a thesis that makes sense and makes a claim that is arguable. I encourage you to reach out to me with your working thesis or with questions so I can help you. You cannot just state a fact and call it a thesis, then write more facts. The other key part of this essay is using transitions effectively and bringing in your skills from the narrative to keep this from being terribly boring. Look to the real-world examples in the module for insight into how to be factual, but still have voice and paint a picture.

Physical Books Vs Digital Books.
Introduction
Physical books and digital books both have their advantages and their disadvantages. This article aims to compare the physical and digital books and determine which ones people should be using. The essay will also analyze the type of books that people prefer and why individuals prefer such a book. The advent of technology has played a key role in the way that people read their books. Having an internet connection allows a person to buy or rent a book from an online supplier at a cheap rate. The books are delivered to a person’s computer or tablet within seconds. The development of phones, kindles, and tablets have also allowed people to carry thousands of books in one gadget. However, some people still prefer to buy physical books, which is evident from the high number of sales that books have been sold over the years.
Digital books have gained prominence over the years because they are easy to carry and they are cheap. However, physical books are still preferred as people love to display what they have read and recorded what they have read.
Physical Books Vs. Digital Books.
Physical Books
There are several reasons why people prefer reading physical books compared to ebooks. Although there has been an increase in technological advancement, people are still buying printed books. Amazon and other retailers have seen an increase in the number of printed books that have been sold over the past few years (Handley, 4). One of the reasons people still buy printed books is because of the human nature of wanting to collect and keep a record of what they have read. Having a bookshelf is a tradition that has been in existence for many years. People like displaying what they have read, and they also like having a physical record of the materials they have read. Additionally, having a book collection in a personal library acts as a decoration for one’s home.
The other reason people should read printed books rather than ebooks is that physical books encourage comprehension and retention of materials that have been read. Studies have shown that people who read physical books retain information better than those who read ebooks (Anfal et al. 8). The human brain can retain and understand information better through touch and sight. The combination of verbal and spatial memorization plays a critical role in how a person reads and remembers information. When people are reading a physical book, they will subconsciously be able to recall the physical location of words. For example, when a person goes to work, they rely more on the physical features along the way rather than the name of the streets. Reading printed books has the same effect on the brain. There is, therefore, a better learning experience when a person is reading a physical book than when they are reading an ebook.
When a person is reading a physical book, they consciously and subconsciously track their progress (Anfal et al. 7). The tracking of the progress plays a critical role in determining whether a person will continue with a book or stop mid-way. There is no way of tracking the progress that one is making when reading an ebook, and there is a high chance of a person n...
