How Have You Changed and Grown as a Writer in Our Class?
This class has introduced diverse writing materials with different concepts. As a result of interacting with the various resources, I have learned critical writing lessons that I was unaware of before enrolling in this course. Perhaps, before interaction with the activities of this class, I felt that I had already learned everything that pertains to this trade. However, I was surprised when the reality revealed that the journey towards refining my writing skills was beginning. Although the skills that I had developed so far were fundamental for enabling me to grasp others, they were insufficient to qualify me as an accomplished expert in this area. I have always been excited about different writing tasks because they are challenging and lead to notable learnings. The continued exposure has especially been life-changing in the past weeks because of the key awareness that I have gained. Thus, this class will remain memorable because it has transformed me into a critical writer with significant attention to details, structure, and format.
Although I enjoy writing, I was never motivated to engage in this activity as frequently as I do since joining this class. I have learned that practice is inevitable to refine skills and progress from one expert level to another. For instance, evidence indicates that prolific writers emerge from making writing a normal activity, which one can only develop by interacting with it routinely (Santag). Initially, I found it significantly demanding to muster the courage to draft some content frequently. Moreover, it was even more challenging to maintain attention for a few hours trying to conjure ideas into a narrative because of distractions such as watching a television program or scrolling social media pages. However, this class has enabled me to acknowledge that one can only transform themselves into better professionals in this area through sacrifice. Indeed, writing is not as simple as it may seem. Aggregating ideas to create a seamlessly flowing story or an informative piece is tasking and time-consuming. As a result, it demands absolute commitment from the writer. I have learned the techniques of gradually stimulating this attitude, which has enabled me to change my mindset.
