. Harassment in the workplace is a societal issue that needs to be tackled consciously in order to provide a solution. It is a threat to public order and it has a large bearing upon businesses and organizations both big and small. Harassment in the workplace points out to all undesirable behaviors and conducts from organizational leaders or workers and are directed to other members or an organization; it is important to note that harassment may include ridicules, communications, physical abuse, threats and sexual assault among others. All the different forms of workplace harassment are unconstitutional and punishable by law. It can greatly affect the productivity, safety and mental and emotional health of an affected employee or worker. (Tye-Williams, 2019) In our society, the implementation of law and guidelines that pertains to fighting harassment in the workplace should be top priority. The literature evaluated why the statement “Workplace sexual harassment is also difficult to litigate” from The New York Times is incorrect.
The article maintains that issues related with workplace are difficult to prosecute since the statute of limitation tends to be very small; this is despite the fact that all workers in all organization are entitled to protection against such hostile environments (Ryzik, p.8). It is important to note that companies such as ’McDonald’s maintain that they are not responsible and answerable for the acts and conduct of workers working at franchisees’ stores. There are, however, concerns that such companies use the franchise model to protect themselves against possible litigation and other legal actions. Cases of harassment are highly reported in McDonald’s but the chief executive officer, Steve Easterbrook maintains that the company has improved its policies against harassment and that the company has remained focused in providing new training to all its front-line employees (Ryzik, p.11).
