Response to Anna Scime’s Presentation

Essay Instructions:

Friday Response to ANNA SCIME's Presentation (500 word MINIMUM)
Your Friday Responses should be thoughtful considerations of that week’s guest and presentation. There are no right or wrong responses to these presentations -- but students should aim to be attentive and to reach an understanding of the diverse ideas and practices, formats, and styles being presented and represented by our guests.
Students should be articulate, thoughtful, and honest in their comments. DO NOT MAKE blanket judgements about whether a work, presentation, or artist is "good" or "bad" but instead explain why, how, and to what you are responding. Explore the folds and nuances of your understanding and responses and try to understand what is happening in the reading, screening, or presentation. In such cases, you may find insightful observations emerge. In some cases, when the work is particularly new or challenging to you, it will take effort, patience, and perseverance. You are encouraged to consult both the recording and transcript for her talk in order to be as specific as you can when writing about her work and in order to include direct quotes from her presentation when appropriate. In addition, feel free to reference materials that you read for Monday ABOUT ANNA SCIME. Be sure to include citations.
Recordings and transcripts will be posted by Tuesday evening at the latest.

Regarding the presentation, various aspects reveal her media art and experimental recordings that fascinate this viewer experience, especially museum-goers. Every aspect plays a unique role in ensuring a satisfactory viewer experience. For instance, Scime talks about the curiosity cabinets in museums, including their form and function following, creating value for museum-goers. Specifically, the cabinets anchor the museum room alongside water and electricity, which are also significant components in any museum (“A Deep Dive w/ Anna Scime”). The cabinet enables the viewers to contemplate major ideas and themes at play, coupled with the capacity to allow the preservation of important species for viewing and appreciating their existence. With them, the visitors can also reflect on topics such as mass extinction, geologic time, related resources, and why museum specialists and other concerned professionals assign value.
Concerning the presentation, another crucial media element emerges. This is the minimalist structure Untitled Scale. It also adds considerable value to media art in the museum. In my viewpoint, using the minimalist tool in the museum is increasingly a great approach to show justice for animals,...
