Management Structure Changes at Megalomania

We're now moving into the reporting phase as well as the public relations phase of the course. This assignment will require you to do more than repeat what's told to you. This will look to get people to think on their feet and think outside the box.

Here's how this assignment works:

- Please write a 500-to 800-word story on the press release. Here is the release: NEWS REPORTING AND WRITING -- Megalomania--correct one-2.doc (attached)
- As I talk about in the video, the first paragraph ain't the lede. You have to find the lede that's important for your audience (the general public) that goes beyond the company's spin.
- Once you find that lede/theme, you need to email Bill Borden who will play the role as company spokesman for Megalomania.
- As I talk about in the video, you will have to contact Bill at least twice. The first thing he'll send you is a document that provides some of the depth you'll need. But it won't be enough, You'll need an explanation. So please contact him again.
- When he send you the document that will provide crucial and vital information for this assignment, you will need to credit a source. Just say "according to a document provided by Megalomania.
- Quoting documents is something reporters do -- and it's something that's becomes much more prevalent in the Internet age because so many documents are now located on the web.
- You will have plenty of time to scrape up information on this assignment so please feel free to reach out to me, too...feel free to ask me what you think the lede is.
