Causes and Effect Essay
Risk factors of depression arise from several influences of college life. Students have different life expectations hence creating a difficult environment for their academic success. Lack of financial support and accumulated debts have contributed significantly to stress. The current generation in various learning institutions has fewer job prospects as compared to past generations. Stress episodes keep on reoccurring due to failed relationships amongst young people. Poor eating habits due to stress as well contribute to the loss or gaining weight. Commonly known effects of stress among college students are; feeling overwhelmed and desire of perfectionism, assassinations as well as unhealthy habits such as heavy drinking.
Amaral et al. stated that relationship breakups in colleges cause damages; students lack sleep for the first three months, intrusive thoughts, and complications to control those thoughts as well as trying to sleep (332). Their academic work faces a stumble and subjects them to several instances of poor results. Students who experienced neglect and abuse during childhood are prone to more stress after a breakup. Following relationship breakup, college students end up using hard drugs or even committing suicide. Recently, students across the globe went beyond borders and committed assassination crime after breakups. This involves attacking others or subjecting them to harm in their peaceful places of stay. Besides, a lack of financial support from parents and guardians has introduced students to debts. In most cases, students compare themselves with those who come from wealthy families, therefore, ending up borrowing money for luxurious life expenses.
