Public Schools vs. Private Schools
Why do parents choose to send their children to private schools? According to Robert N. Gross, private schools are the original educational entities in America, and they have played a significant role in educating a large number of kids since 1980. Most recently, the number of private schools has increased in not only the United States but also worldwide. The expert further says that there were nearly 17,000 private schools in America in 1994, but now their number has been doubled, meaning almost 34,576 private schools are actively operating in different parts of the country (Gross 141). One of the core reasons why parents prefer private schools over public schools is that they are allowed to choose a variety of programs for their children. However, the fact cannot be ignored that private schools do not effectively educate children as public schools do.
The Availability of the Best Teachers
When it comes to talking about the availability of best and most experienced teacher, it is noticed that they are mostly found in public schools, not in private schools. It has been observed that committed and life-long graduates turn to public schools to secure their jobs, which is why the most brilliant educators can only be found in public schools, not in private schools. For example, a private school will hardly have two to three teachers holding a Ph.D. degree, while a public school is likely to have many of them, which is why the students are guaranteed good results and parents can be assured of their bright future.
More Experienced Faculty
According to Christopher A. Lubienski and Sarah Theule Lubienski, private schools intend to hire a large number of inexperienced teachers as they do not want to pay a lot to their staff. On the other hand, public schools do not compromise on the qualifications and experience of their faculty members (Lubienski & Lubienski 65). When the interviews are held, teachers are always required to have previous experience in order to be able to the teacher at public schools. In addition, public school principals regularly host continuing education courses for their teachers and encourage them to participate in discussion groups and academic clubs. All of these activities are meant to help them enhance their knowledge and to allow them to teach students in a better way. Compared to this, private school principals do not arrange workshops and training programs for their teachers but are more into collecting more and more money in terms of fees.
More Spacious Campuses
At a glimpse, parents may think that the building of a private school is far better than the building of a public school, but it is not. If they observe keenly or carefully, they will get to know that most of the public schools have more spacious buildings ...
