Ethnocentrism
Ethnocentrism refers to the idea of people judging other's cultures, beliefs, norms, and values in relation to their own (Kam, and Kinder, 10). Ethnocentric people tend to believe that their cultures, beliefs, and norms are better than others’. Moreover, these people are not able to consider other's views and are ignorant and bigot (Kam, and Kinder, 10). Ethnocentrism is common in the United States. Most of the enterprises that are born in this country always experience difficulties while entering international markets because they always make the mistake of assuming their cultures and values are superior to those of other countries (Kam, and Kinder, 13). In effect, this makes people resist their products and services in the market. In extreme cases, these companies miss international opportunities due to this character (Kam, and Kinder, 15).
