           There are a lot of disturbing stories from people who worked for Dollar Tree stores, from low wages to extreme work pressure. Dollar Tree’s reputation in the job market has never been commendable; the fact that their low wage rate for the workers has always kept them under the negative spotlight. There are a lot of cases from big to small towns coming straight from the workers themselves. According to the report from Business Insider, the Dollar store pays just near to the minimum wage rate, but lesser than the stores in the industry (Cain). The business model of Dollar Tree makes it difficult to take out the appropriate labor cost, as selling products at low rates justifies keeping the overall direct cost as low as possible, ultimately affecting the labor expense. The store has no other choice but to keep the labor expense low; otherwise, the company will not be able to make any profit.
The labor turnover has always been so high for Dollar Tree. This is because of many reasons, some known and some unknown. Recently, Dollar Store was hit by a pandemic like all other companies around the world. There were recorded reports of worker burn-out in a lot of stores. The store managers stated that there is a shortage of workers in the store at single worker is catering to a huge number of customers, running down with energy, and ultimately leaving the job as soon as possible. There was a case reported in the newspaper by the manager of the Dollar Store, who quits job in protest during a pandemic. She wasn’t able to deal with the fact that a single coronavirus case on a container leads to a 2-month delay in the supply chain and the decline in sales resulting in low profit...
