No Cure Exists for Parkinson’s Disease Parkinson’s disease is a concerning neurodegenerative disorder that disrupts the nervous system in specific parts leading to impairments of other extremities. The disease develops slowly and triggers uncontrolled and unintended bodily movements, including stiffness, shaking, and imbalance (National Institute on Aging). The nature of this disease indicates that it causes a significant disruption in the quality of life of the patient, requiring caregiving services for primary care, especially when the illness progresses. As a result, these concerns make Parkinson’s disease an essential condition that requires comprehensive exploration to determine its classic symptoms, causes, individuals at risk, and treatment or prevention options available. Causes of Parkinson’s Disease
This disease starts to manifest in a person when specific never cells located in their movement controlling part of the brain, basal ganglia, become compromised or die. These cells have a fundamental responsibility of secreting dopamine (Mayo Clinic). As a result, the reduced levels of this chemical trigger abnormal brain activities leading to the clinical manifestations of the disease. Evidence indicates that the actual cause of this outcome remains unclear. Moreover, a decline or insufficient production of norepinephrine due to the weakening of nerve endings secreting this chemical also contributes significantly to the emergence of Parkinson’s condition. Other aspects, including environmental triggers like exposure to toxins, also cause the disease. The National Institute on Aging indicates that scientists have linked Lewy bodies or clumping certain substances in the brain as a suspect. These causes interact to trigger Parkinson’s disease. Typical Signs and Symptoms
The clinical presentations of Parkinson’s disease may vary from one person to another. However, the early ones remain localized on a particular side of the body, and the severity persists in the same context. According to Armstrong and Okun, the disease triggers nonmotor and motor symptoms (550). They comprise tremor, bradykinesia or slowed bodily movement, muscle rigidity accompanied by pain, and impaired balance and posture. Individuals also lose their capacity to execute automatic or ...
