Limited Animation: A Common Anime Technique

Essay Instructions:

1. Think of or find an anime series, or regular animated film, and break it down for me in terms of the different anime techniques we talked about in class. Why do you believe this is limited animation (anime)? What are the tell tale signs in your designated film? Note, Disney and other western animators use these techniques too, simply not to that extent.
2. What effect does limited animation have on the viewer? Does it take away from the enjoyment and fluidity of the film? If so, what do you attribute anime's success to? In terms of style it is certainly inferior to western animators' projects. Why then do you think it has taken the world by storm over the last few decades? What is it about Japanese animation that makes it aso endearing despite its obvious lack of artistic refinement?

It helps those who are of tender age to differentiate the characters based on their costumes.
Another technique used in the limited animation is subliminal messaging. In certain scenes, the camera shifts from left to right, and the viewer gets to see some additional props in the background, such as manga posters. However, this technique is used deliberately because the posters in the background show images of other manga products. Hence, the creators are simply trying to get the viewers to purchase more of their products.
Aiura is a limited animation because it has only one season. In addition to this, it has a running time of 4 minutes p...
