1 What differences has the Internet made to the conduct of academic research?
Because of the internet conducting academic research has become easier, faster, and better.
For one, the internet has made it easier to develop research questions and literature reviews. Prior to the creation of the internet (i.e., online academic databases) looking for unexplored research questions and approaches are very difficult. People would still have to browse through physical books stacked on top of one another in libraries. Each of the book needs to be fully read so that the researcher can identify gaps in the study. Today, looking for new research topics are much easier than before. There are tools and databases that could analyze the number of research conducted in a field, which can be a source of new ideas. This is the same for conducting literature reviews.
Aside from looking for new topics and conducting literature review, another advantage of using the internet is that it allows us to be able to conduct studies remotely. Today, thousands of research are conducted through online surveys or interviews.
