Political communication is key in streamlining the media and ensuring that the press does not use its freedom to oppress other individuals or institutions. On the other hand, Ward's argument that political communication in the television age is a barrier to conveying information is accurate. This is because political communication establishes several policies that media personalities have to adhere to. In the process, some guidelines are meant not necessarily to streamline but to gag the media from acting independently (Cahill and Ward, 2007). With this argument, it is convincible to conclude that political communication is hindering the existence of public sphere. The public sphere in this case can be defined as an arena where public members come together to air and exchange their opinions on the critical issues of general interests before they deliberate and come up with public views on various matters (Lei, 2017). These can include live television or radio shows where members of the public call in and air their opinions. The public sphere is achievable and an effective way of understanding what the majority of the public wants as much as there can be a group of a minority with a different opinion.
A free press on the other hand, is essential in representing citizens' rights because when the media is trusted by the public to be free, then the public can be assured of getting the factual information and all the information relevant to them in full details.
