Reflective Report: The Thematic Independent

Reflective Report Name Institution Section 1 Achievements After taking the Thematic Independent studies course for three years, I was able to benefit a lot as I learned new things. I have now completed the course, and thus I feel it's high time I evaluate my performance on various issues such as what sessions did I do well and what improvements could have I added to my score. The Thematic independent Studies course was beneficial to me as I was able to refresh my memory on issues I already knew and ones that I needed to be reminded about. I recorded the best score in formulating the best business idea when I was in the first semester. This was one of the activities that I did well as I was rated the best by my lecturer. The procedure of formulating this business idea was quite tiring as I had to gather information from various sources. The sources I used included the internet and also listening to what people around the institution said. These sources were very useful as they provided enough business opportunities based on market gaps. With the use of the attained data, I was able to come up with a business idea that was realistic and applicable. In the course of formulating this business idea, I failed in some sections such as expressing the budget required to put this idea into practice. I could have done better if I had sufficient information in financial accounting and auditing procedures. The project could have recorded perfect results if correct budgeting procedures were included. Though the project was termed among the best in the class, it is one of my many achievements in the course of Thematic Independent studies. Research skills The Thematic Independent studies is a practical course which involves a lot of research procedures. This course requires one to formulate five research papers at least every year. All the five research papers are on different topics, and every student has his or her topic to avoid copy-pasting. The purpose of these assignments is to help the students acquire research skills and be used to research procedures as they are critical in every career. In the course of formulating these research papers, I had to carry out extensive research on various subject matters. The research procedure led me to the classification of sources where I learned that sources of information are either classified as primary or secondary sources. Both types of sources are beneficial for any research. These research papers gave me an opportunity to evaluate my research skills as I was able to gauge my position. In the course of these research procedures, I noted that I was not a good researcher as I had to use the UOG online Databases and I found constant difficulties using them. Though initially I was not used to research procedures, the various academic research I have conducted have improved my research skills as I am now able to research any topic without difficulties. In the course of my assignments, I was able to learn the various data analysis procedures, and thus I believe I have the upper hand in research procedures.
