Ethics in business determines how the company treats and protects its stakeholders, including customers and the environment. The literature evaluates why the use of micro-beads in manufacturing products in unethical. Microbeads constitute a special type of plastics. For a long time,plastics have been quite handy because of their versatility and light weight. They are also quite durable and cheap to make as well as acquire (Bouwman, 2019). The main problem with plastics is that they are nonbiodegradable in nature. The fact that it is durable means that plastics can even outlast the duration they were meant to last, hence become an unnecessary product. Plastic bags for example, can only be used for a few minutes of the day, but can last for more than half a century. It is the main reason as to why they are environmental hazards. Micro-beads refers to small manufacture plastic particles that do not dissolve in water and are non-biodegradable (Department of the Environment and Energy, 2019). These materials are used in making a wide range of products, including household appliances, clothes, cosmetics, and industrial equipment. They are usually spherical, while in some instances, amorphous. The use of micro-beads in beauty products may be termed as both illegal and unethical. Some countries, such as the United States have implemented legislation to ban the usage of plastics (Ethical Consumer, 2017).
