What is a sustainable city?
A sustainable city can mean many things, but for me, it must fulfill three basic principles: economic growth, environmental sustainability, and socially dynamic. These three principles are connected: economic growth must not compromise environmental sustainability and social dynamics.
A sustainable city, is really a community, where people can be in constant communion with their neighbors and nature. Here, people have high well-being because they are able to fulfill their basic needs, as well as enjoy the beauty that nature affords. The sustainable city is built, for people, with the recognition that human beings are complex – that they are not rulers of the earth, but rather, are caretakers of the bounty of nature.
