FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS: You may discuss the questions with your classmates, but your answers should be your own. Each answer should be self-contained; don't rely upon answers given elsewhere on the exam to ‘count' as part of a separate answer. Finally, any secondary sources you consult, including online sources, need to be cited somewhere in your exam.
Remember, a ‘thesis' is a direct, one-sentence assertion, formulated in response to the writing prompt or question. While your introduction can include an ‘about' sentence (in this essay, I shall discuss… or… this essay is about…), an ‘about' sentence is not the same thing as a thesis. A thesis should be in the mold of, ‘In this essay, I shall argue that…' or ‘In this essay, I shall demonstrate that…'
QUESTIONS:
1) What point is Mary Shelley trying to make when she puts into the mouths of her male characters a feminized and somewhat violent attitude toward the natural world? How does this relate to the depiction of gender roles in the novel?
2) Conduct a clear and focused comparison and/or contrast of the ways in which Todd May and Simone de Beauvoir believe that death impacts/ought to impact our understanding of life. (You need to read Frankenstein 2nd edition by Mary Shelley to answer the first question. And read "Death" which is written by Todd May and "A very easy death( Pantheon Modern Writers Series)" which is written by Simone De Beauvoir to answer the second question.

Mary Shelley has managed to write this excellent novel, which can be considered horrific as it lacks any strong female pointers. The success of Mary Shelley is associated to her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, who believed women were equals of men as she discussed in A Vindication Of The Rights Of Woman.This factor made Mary a leading feminist who houses men as her main characters, though they are full of mistakes. Mary Shelley has also managed to encompass a few female characters such as Safie, Elizabeth, Justine, Margaret, and Agatha. In the course of the novel, Mary Shelley makes make her point by putting into the mouth of the male characters a feminized and somewhat violent attitude towards the natural world. Her main point in this novel is to show women are discriminated and denied opportunities to hold positions. At the start of the novel, it appears as if the author is demotivating women as she uses men as her primary focus. This trend goes on through the entire novel as whenever a female is mentioned; she is related to one of the male characters.
