Book Report: Students are to find a book on one of the artists from the textbook, 50 Artists You Should Know. The book should contain at least 100 pages of text. Include a title page with your name and the identification of your chosen book, and the total word count, excluding words on the title page. Also include a copy of the book’s table of contents. The report should be at least 600 words (700 maximum) and double spaced.
Explain the main points of the book at the beginning of the report. That is, at the beginning of your report you should synthesis some of the main ideas of the book, and then you will go into some of those ideas in depth in the remainder of the report. Refer to specific parts of the text by citing using Turabian Chicago Manual of Style footnoting. The report should contain at least five footnotes in the Turabian Chicago Manual of Style. Footnotes are used when information is referenced, when an idea of an author is paraphrased, or when the author is directly quoted. Include two direct short quotes (less than 4 lines) in the report. When you introduce quotes from the text, be sure to explicate them. Give a quote, and then explain what you think it means. In doing so, focus on what you think are the most important parts of the book, also stating why you find them to be important. Go into some detail about what works the author discusses.

Michelangelo by Romain Rolland was a book written about the life and work of the famous Italian painter, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, who also doubled up as an architect and poet. Michelangelo's unparalleled influence was one of the significant factors for the development of Western art. The first chapter of the book is about Michelangelo’s childhood and youth from 1475 to 1505. Romain also writes about the relationship between Michelangelo and Pope Julius II. Rolland goes on to write about the failure of the grand plans, Vittoria                                                                                                                                                                                              Colonna, Michelangelo's old age, death, and one's influence on Italian art. 
Childhood and Youth 
Michelangelo, who was born on the 6th of March 1475, had a rough childhood since his mother passed on when he was only six. When Michelangelo was sent to school, he neglected everything else and concentrated on drawing. Michelangelo’s passion for drawing was greatly opposed by his uncles and father, who whipped him cruelly often because they did not like the profession of an artist.  According to ignorance of the nobility of art, they saw the artist in Michelangelo as a disgrace. Unlike the others, the elder Buonarroti, supported Michelangelo as he pursued his passion and dream before later joining Domenico and David Ghirlandajo.  Therefore, Michelangelo's childhood and youth are fundamental aspects of the book because it is the time when his career started and his influence on Italian art.The Relationship Between Michelangelo and Pope Julius II
Michelangelo was invited to Rome by Pope Julius II after hearing about his work and requested him to plan for his tomb. The design that Michelangelo made please the Pope so much that he immediately sent Carrara to go and get any amount of marble that he wanted.  The first years of their friendship were filled with plans as Julius II was enthusiastic about the plans for his tomb, and Michelangelo was excited about carving an entire mountain. The Pope's impatience made him create a drawbridge, which was his secret passage to Michelangelo's workshop to see how the tomb was progressing. The idea of reconstructing St. Peter's that the Pope had made him lose the friendship he had with Michelangelo, as Raphael, one of Michelangelo's enemies, encouraged the Pope. Consequently, the tainted friendship between the Pope and Michelangelo affected Michelangelo's work and his influence over the Pope through his work.
