Operational art in war plays a significant role in determining how wars end, how they are fought, and the strategies that different commanders use. This essay will analyze the 2003 Iraq invasion by the US and its allies. It will look at how the various joint force commanders (JFC) employed operational art during the planning and execution of the Iraq invasion. The invasion of Iraq by the US-led coalition was a military strategy aimed at liberating the Iraqi people, eliminating weapons of mass destruction, and destroying terrorist infrastructure. The first step the coalition forced did in their use of operational art was to determine their strategies and the reasons for going to war.
