The impacts of World War II were far reaching on a global scale, but they were felt more by countries that took part in the war. The United States of America allied with Britain to fight the Japanese and German invasions in the various parts of the world. Due to the economic and social implications of war, America went through various changes in accordance with the needs of the war. In the years that followed after WWII, the impacts were being experienced at all levels of society including politics, culture, and social impacts. In the southern region of America, issues of race and agriculture were still a major concern for its population during and after the war. World War II led to many American men sign for war thus leading to a deficiency of enabled men in society to carry on ‘men’ roles and tasks. One of the sectors that was immediately impacted by this shortage was the labor industry. In the early 20th century, men were considered as the primary breadwinners with women being regarded as housewives. However, in the midst of a crisis when labor was much required to meet the increasing demand of products and services, there were no enough men to fill the positions. This led to employment of women in various sectors of labor industry to ensure continued production of goods and service to enhance the industrialization process in America. During this period, it was reported that the women workforce experienced a 60 percent increase as they replaced men serving in the military. The involvement of women in the employment sector led to a rise of independent and empowered women who took on various jobs to meet their economic needs. Therefore, women joining the employment industry in large numbers thus enabling women empowerment was one of the social changes that took part during WWII. Even at this point, race was still a significant issue as black women were assigned menial jobs which were characterized with low wages when compared to that of their white counterparts. Because of the WWII, women were forced to balance their roles as mothers and breadwinners in a bid to provide and take care of their families. Race was a still a significant issue during WWII and America was still coming to terms with the abolishment of slavery in the country. The Southern region was characterized with slavery and racism was still rampant as blacks were being lynched, killed, or unfairly targeted by the authorities. The WWII had led to many freed black slaves to move to the Northern states to take up positions in the labor industry. This migration of blacks from the South, led to reduced labor in the farms which led to increased tensions between the white and the black communities within the society.
