An interesting fact about Zamenhof is that he was born in Poland. Poland was one of the neutral countries in World War I. However, it was also one of the countries that suffered the most in World War I and World War II. The fact that Zamenhof came from a country whose people were the most persecuted, especially in the second war, shows man's desire to achieve peace at any cost. Zamenhof's dream of an international language did not take hold because it did not receive the needed support. The support of nations and international organizations would have guaranteed using the language worldwide.
