Essay Sample Content Preview:
  1. The temporal lobe is associated with a person’s memory skills. It handles a variety of tasks that are important for everyday functioning. When damaged, a person may experience problems in sense perception, an inability to pay attention to what they see or hear, an inability to comprehend language, problems with factual and long term memory. It can also cause emotional disturbances and could lead to altered sexual behaviors and drastic change in personality (for example, becoming obsessive, or loss of sense of humor) (Centre for Neuroskills 2016).
Temporal lobe damage has no cure but physical and medical rehabilitation can help the patient regain some of his lost functionalities. Every injury is different, and so it affects the each patient different, hence a treatment plan has to be developed by a team based on the results of the MRI, CT-Scan, x-rays and other tests.
