Introduction
The term cold war refers to the rivalry which emerged after the Second World War between the west comprising of United States of America and her allies and the former East bloc who was made up by the USSR and her allies. The name cold war was coined from the fact that it was not waged on battlefields with weapons; it was a war a war of words and propaganda characterized by economic hostilities towards each other and military and financial aid to their allies.[Taylor, David. The Cold War. Chicago: Heinemann Library, 2001.]

This new and tight division of Europe made international relations very poor.
The other causes of the cold war were the European conflicts of the late 1940s such as the civil war in Greece where the western bloc supported one side and the Soviet Union the other increasing tension in Europe. The united nation domination by the western powers was brought about by the Russian veto power which the United States wanted to be limited to the Soviet Union.
