In the United States of America (USA), the terms Latinos and Hispanic are used interchangeably. The population of Hispanics in the USA is significant. Many of these individuals have deep roots in Latin American countries. The first time that Hispanics were recognized as a distinct demographic was during the 1970 Census. In particular, the USA is a multiracial country, and individuals from different parts of the world reside there. However, the only significant problem about multiculturalism is that different groups of people encounter cultural conflicts, where some disagreements might extend so far, leading to racism or discrimination. Hispanic is among the most highly recognized cultures in the USA.
Based on a 2020 report by the Pew Research Center, Hispanic and Latino Americans comprise over 18% of the USA population (InterExchange 2020). In other words, there exist more than 57 million Latinos and Hispanics in the USA. These individuals migrate from Hispanic countries, such as Venezuela and Peru, and they speak Spanish. However, the majority of individuals residing in the USA are bilinguals, and they can communicate using English. Over half of the Latino and Hispanic population live in Florida, California, and Texas. What happens is that these people usually allow others from their countries to visit them, which contributes to the concentration of their population in specific states. Hispanics and Latinos are not equally distributed in the USA. For example, California alone has over 14 million Latinos and Hispanics, which is the largest population residing in one state. Florida and Texas have 4 million and 10 million, respectively. New York has more than 3 million of these individuals (InterExchange 2020). The Hispanic culture is very vibrant, and these people are interactive. Latinos and Hispanics engage in almost every business, and they like the USA due to a conducive business environment. When many Hispanics and Latinos from Latin American countries enter the USA, they never leave since they believe that the country has the perfect environment to foster their career dreams.
Language is the common cultural feature of Hispanic culture. These individuals tend to use Spanish when they are communicating among themselves. Nevertheless, since most of them are bilinguals, they use English when interacting with individuals from other cultures. The population of the Hispanic has continually grown over the years. For example, in 1980, there were about 11 million Hispanics and Latinos in the USA. At that particular time, they constituted about 5% of the total American population. Besides, by 2012, Spanish speakers in the USA had reached 38 million and formed approximately 13% of the USA's total population. Although Hispanics and Latinos residing in the USA acculturate and assimilate to their culture, many do not forget about their culture (CDC n.d.). In that light, they teach their children their language and usually use it while communicating at home or other places where this population is highly concentrated.
