Developing user-friendly manuals and guidelines
The first dissemination strategy is to develop user-friendly manuals and guidelines. Certain evidence-based practices face bottlenecks that prevent the seamless transfer from the academic setting to the real world. E.g., the disconnect between resources and policies and the demands of consumers. EBP may be disseminated through treatment manuals developed for clinicians that serve as therapeutic guidelines for evidence-based treatment (Melnyk et al., 2011). Treatment manuals and guidelines can be disseminated through social skills training programs, family and community treatment, among others. Evidence-based treatment manuals aid line-level generalists acquire micro-skills that are essential for EBP nursing practice. Secondly, treatment manuals are associated with very high face validity, improving the staff's probability of understanding the treatment rationale. They have in-built fidelity systems that ensure correct and effective implementation of EBP findings.
Educating staff on skills and principles
EBP can be disseminated through pre-service and in-service educational training programs. The pre-service dissemination strategy involves integrating EBP in a university-based curriculum (Hockenberry, Wilson & Barrera, 2016). The educational strategy targets discreet practice skills. Research shows that the method is highly effective in competency training through evidence-based curricula. Still, in-service training targeting line-level staff focuses on teaching discrete skills through evidence-based practice. The training program utilizes learning strategies such as professional modeling, role-play, and feedback. However, the educational approach is used alongside practice-based manuals to deliver Evidence-based practice training to pre-service and in-service staff (Melnyk et al., 2011).
