The world today stands at a vital juncture. The current age is experiencing a massive growth in technological advancement and innovation. It is commonly referred to as the age of technological explosion. It has had impacts on every facet of life on the planet. Every industry, from healthcare to financial, has been influenced in one way or another by these technological innovations. The rapid growth of internet usage has played a key role in technological growth, as there is more connectivity between people as well as resources. Over the past two to three decades, the healthcare industry in particular, has undergone great changes due to the impacts of technology. It therefore not only cuts on costs but also saves time. Virtual hospitals have become very useful especially for individuals who are always on the move, such as sailors.
With increased technological use, there has been the development or growth of automated diagnosis of patients. Information sharing between various medical practitioner and automated systems over a given network, ensure that there is automatic generation of treatment mode. When the symptoms provided by a patient are saved in a particular information database, the system automatically synchronizes and generates the most likely disease, plus its preferred treatment. Such systems have increased convenience, since they continuously keep the patient records, and hence will only be updating on the present conditions of the patient. In the end, it helps the doctor to track the patient's medical history, hence have more knowledge on how to handle each patient (Husung, 2015).This is essentially the brainchild of electronic records, which help the doctor to easily and quickly track the medical history of a patient.
