Introduction
Google is the best-recognized because of its advertising and search tools. Google is one of the top largest R&D spenders in the world. For instance, in 2013, Google spent more than 7 million in research only. The company is also known for its innovation in different products and its initiatives to make some of these products worthwhile. This paper will provide analysis if the five technologies that are used by Google in the research and development of products.
1 Self-Driving Automobiles
When people talk about something that is self-driving it means that that car does not need human power for it to function. Such a car is programmed in such a way that it can navigate from one point to another. Google asserts that technology depends on the software and the sensors to drive themselves. These cars use the CPU systems, GPS, and Google maps to direct. These cars also have sophisticated systems that can forecast the movement of the car and also decide the defection the car should move next. The self-driving automobile of Google has various goals like increasing utilization to 75%, lessen the number of cars on the road by stimulating car sharing (International Conference on Vehicle & Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology &Yu, 2013). Google also aims at creating more opportunities for car manufacturers and creators of technology. However, this kind of technology has been criticized by people especially when it comes to morality issues like the ability of the car to make decisions. Google also has the vision of coming up with integrated systems. However, Google has no intention of manufacturing cars but wants to license its software to the car manufacturers.
2 Renewable Energy and Sustainability Solutions
Google is an internet company that has a large consumer of energy. As a result, the company has been on the race through the past few years to top the renewable energy marketplace. However, compared to other companies google has indicated more aggressiveness. For example in 2014, Google has developed solar and wind investments that had amounted to $1bliion. They were able to produce two gigawatts of power globally. In 2016, Google had increased its projects from 15 to 22 and this made the company one of the major buyers of renewable energy in the globe.
The approach of Google is how values are important in managing power. Google focuses on power acquisition agreements in the form of financial agreements. Google has also been involved in projects that apply renewable energies in their product lines. For example, Sundender is a project of Google where the company is testing drones that are solar-powered and could beam 5G Internet from space. The operations of clean energy are powered by clean and renewable energy sources. For example 2014, the majority of the company's operations were powered by renewable energy sources. The fact that Google has made its strategies in ensuring it is an environmental sensitive corporation, has impressed the stakeholders since they are ambitious in their programs.
