Understanding the benefits of personal interaction and good relational skills is essential for any social worker. This is because a social worker's primary task is to help a particular group or peers return to their usual functionating state. It might not seem real, but some families and groups are seeking help from these workers. Meeting the family in person is a must because one cannot judge someone base on their voice on the phone alone. They need to interact with them to see the best solution for their problems. Being able to meet with the whole family gives several benefits to the assessment and intervention process. As the case said, the two things that can significantly benefit me by doing so are that I can witness how they behave or interact with each other with my own eyes. This is a must because in planning to help them, you need to interact with them and observe both verbal and non-verbal cues to deeply understand their problem. With this, I can gain a clear perspective on how each family member treats the other. The second benefit is that I can familiarize myself with them and use empowering language; talking like a friend in front of them is a must to avoid any hidings of feelings. Because I can't solve anything if I don't get the underlying cause of the problem, the source of the problem is their deepest and sensitive secrets.
